S U C C E S S

I arrived at what I thought was an early time to drive the course to make sure it was marked. I was almost late, I think I made it with a minute to spare...

I was happy to see a group (KBA) headed out to do the 43 mile course as we were driving in. After the pre-drive I pulled into the lot to see about 60 riders or so. I was a happy camper! Here are some pics from the ride. I wanted to take more but it would be hard to be all over the course at one time. I hope that they get this ride produced next year. It's a shame that nearly 1000 riders did not get to do this highly anticipated event this year. I will definitely try to get this thing going again next year if they fail. Thanks to the KBA and the NTMBA for a big turnout!
Looks like the Possum wasn't dead after all.....

DEAD POSSUM RIDE JULY 18TH 2009

July 18th 2009 will be the first and hopefully the last "DEAD POSSUM RIDE". Next year hopefully the Funfest gang will get this sorted out. We will begin at the Yuma elementary school* @930 am and roll through the beautiful countryside. *(Yuma Elementary School is not involved in this ride this year). This is a non-sponsored event, just some cyclists trying to keep a great ride's spirit alive. The course will be 25 miles in length and some hills will be involved but nothing bad. This will be a NO FEE, NO T-SHIRT, NO RACE, NO HONEYBUNS, NO BULL ride. There will be no sag support and no rest stops. Although if we have 50 or more riders we will put a rest stop in for the day about midway if the group so wishes. It will be decided at the start.

Please be self sufficient during this ride, bring everything you may need. Tubes, pump, multi tool, WATER, etc.

After the ride there will be some tailgating in the parking lot. Please bring your favorite tailgating foods because NOTHING WILL BE PROVIDED............remember the possum is dead this year? This is a BYOF (bring your own food) tailgating. We will hang out and enjoy each other's company with some good ole cycling camaraderie. Please bring trash bags to pick up your waste also. We will leave it as clean as we found it!

Hope to see everyone there. Please pass this link on to everyone you think might enjoy this!

Sincerely,
The Dead Possum

DIRECTIONS: North on Hwy 23 out of Kingsport, at the first stop light in Weber City (see cemetary on left) turn left, follow about 4-5 miles at "T" intersection turn right and school will be on the right.
